60% of paper purchased is at least 30% post-consumer recycled content
Cornell University realizes the important connection between our purchases and our support of a sustainable economy. For this reason Cornell uses purchasing power to strengthen sustainable economies and utilize sustainable products on campus whenever possible. These purchases range from the recycled paper in our library printers, the green cleaning products that are utilized in our 170 academic and residential buildings, to investing in Energy Star© appliances for our dormitory laundry facilities as well as our investment in sustainable computing and technology centers.
In addition to our product purchasing, we prioritize doing business with service companies that have stated commitments to sustainability in terms of their respect for the environment as well as their treatment of their workers.
Moving forward, Cornell plans to seek out new types of sustainable purchasing that will enhance our dedication to a fully sustainable campus.
